Match Report

Another week, another huge task for Longparish U15s, nine U13s embellished with a brace of talented U15s; an away tie to a confident and unbeaten Easton U15 side con taining several boys “playing up” to the club’s high flying senior sides.

With rain reducing the game to 12 overs a side, Longparish batted first, every batsman contributing as Longparish posted a competitive total of 78 for 6 against some accomplished Easton bowling; Ben Gardner top scoring with 14.

In reply Longparish’s opening bowlers Brad Aldridge and William Jackman bowled tidily without reward, first change bowler Sam Woodward taking the wickets of both the Easton openers, backed up by Ben Gardner with an economical spell from the opposite end. With 4 overs remaining Easton required 29 for victory with 8 wickets in hand. Death bowlers Easton old boy Ollie Lee and captain William de Cani, coupled with some superb fielding piled the pressure on the Easton batting line up.  Lee taking one wicket and a run out, de Cani a career best 6 for 12 as Easton were dismissed from the final ball of the innings 2 runs short of the Longparish total.
